Turfgrass stress

Turfgrass stress

This year again, the summer has been really stressful for turfgrass.

In many different locations we have visited we have seen some severely damaged turfgrass.

As turfgrass agronomists we have to help our clients to rapidly identify the issue. Many different factors could lead to turfgrass decline or even complete loss of turfgrass, a prompt reaction is key to constrain damages.

Most common factors include: disease, insects, nematodes, localised dry spots, high salinity from the irrigation water, mechanical damages, burning from fertiliser, phytotoxicity or even vandalism.

Using specialised laboratories is essential to enable us identify problems and stop the damages.

The next step is recovery, but we will discuss that on another occasion….
